The greatest gifts-health and peace of mind.

Just as a general contractor on a building project serves as the central point coordinating of all of the services of subcontractors and specialty craftsmen during the construction of a house, Advocacy Partners serves as the central point of coordination for all the medical and supporting healthcare services the client receives (physicians, home health, physical therapy, medical equipment, etc.).  It is difficult to be your own “general contractor” if you do not have the needed skills and time.  Isn’t navigating the complex healthcare maze at least as tricky as building a house?

Here are some situations which demonstrate how Advocacy Partners can provide value.

Case #1:

May, an only child, had a successful career in TN, and enjoyed yearly visits with her now elderly parents back home in PA.  May’s mother began to decline with dementia, and she relied upon her father to be the primary caregiver for her mother.  Then, May’s father fell and broke his hip.  May could not leave her employment in TN to care for her parents in PA, and could not afford the time (research and waiting lists) nor the cost of placing her parents into institutional care.  In this situation, Advocacy Partners could be engaged to orchestrate the varied services required to keep May’s parents in their own home and community, lessening the financial burden, and giving May peace of mind.  With the Partner Portal, May could keep up-to-date on her parents care and progress, did not have to leave her job, and could “take part” in their recovery from afar.

Case #2:

Anthony suffered a brain injury as a result of physician malpractice at the time of his birth.  As part of the malpractice award, a trust was established to provide for Anthony’s lifelong care.  Anthony’s mother became his full-time care-giver, but by the time Anthony was 6 years old, she was overwhelmed with the fragmented healthcare system.  She had difficulty coordinating Anthony’s medications, his appointments with neurologists, speech therapists, dieticians, and physical therapists.  He outgrew his stroller and now needed a special wheelchair and bracing. Anthony’s mother became disillusioned dealing with various social agencies, home health aids, insurance and government bureaucrats.  Most of all, she was exhausted.  Advocacy Partners could lessen her burden, include her in Anthony’s care plan, support her in maintaining a more balanced life, and become an advocate for getting Anthony all the services he needs and to which he is entitled.

Case #3:

Henrietta, a previously active senior citizen, had several chronic health issues, and saw many specialists for her various ailments over the last year.  She was taking all the medications each physician prescribed, but wasn’t getting better.  Others around her noticed a decline in recent months and were wondering whether Henrietta needed to be placed in an assisted living facility.  Advocacy Partners could perform an assessment and discover that medications prescribed by two different physicians were interacting in such a way as to cause untoward results.  A medical professional from Advocacy Partners could accompany Henrietta to her doctor’s appointments, and facilitate medication changes, thus alleviating the detrimental side effects, and allowing Henrietta to bounce back to being the active senior she once was.
